The Parent Digital Duo

Hey Bastion Readers,

I am very excited to introduce the Parent Digital Duo, a branch of Bastion Industries focused on helping new parents navigate the digital age. Our resources will include posts, tips, guides, videos, and more to help you prepare for this amazing time in your life.

Before we get started we should consider this simple question:

Why would someone create this resource?

As a tech expert I constantly weigh the consequences of adding devices, tools, and users to enterprise environments. I try to examine the different points of view that executives, managers, and users see when interacting with technology in the digital age. How can we consider this view when it comes to parenting?

Examining the different points of view throughout history can be powerful for parents when making decisions about family life. The point of view of an anxious new parent in our digital age can be extremely different from the point of view that our parents or grandparents experienced. If we look at our current interactions with technology versus the parenting strategies through the past fifty or one hundred generations, the differences are incredible. This resource is not about surface level questions, but rather a step by step guide for new parents. Sure we will touch on the broad questions like “how is early device use influencing child development”, but also focus on key events for parents like setting up a nursery or the big hospital visit.

I wish a resource existed when I was a new parent to help walk me through the new and uncertain steps I needed to take. Becoming a new parent during the pandemic was a challenging life event and I want to lend a hand to give some peace of mind to expecting parents. I am so grateful for the supportive family members in my life who gave their input and guidance. I aim to take what I have learned and share it with others on a large scale. Technology, science, and the economy moves quickly in the digital age. You will find yourself comparing products, seeking support, and making decisions you feel are best for your little ones. Hopefully, we can provide some guidance and help you fortify your home life with the Parent Digital Duo.
